Shooter dies while cleaning gun

In a freak incident, Lokesh Singh, a 17-year-old state level shooter, died when he accidentally shot himself dead while cleaning the licneced gun of his father at his home in Aligarh’s Kwarsi locality.

ALIGARH: In a freak incident, Lokesh Singh, a 17-year-old state level shooter, died when he accidentally shot himself dead while cleaning the licneced gun of his father at his home in Aligarh’s Kwarsi locality.
According to police, Singh was cleaning his father’s licensed gun at the rooftop when he accidentally pressed the trigger of the gun. He was “accidentally” shot in his abdomen. He was taken to JN Medical College where he was operated but due to unavailability of ventilator doctors sent him to another hospital. Soon, after being taken to a private hospital in the city, he died. The body has been cremated and it was not sent for post mortem.
Singh’s father Jeet Pal Singh, Pradhan of a village in Harduaganj and his other siblings are also into the sport of shooting. They had shifted to Kwarsi years ago. The boy Lokesh had participated in state level and inter school competitions, and was aspiring to be a national level sportsman. He was preparing for state level competitions.
SO Kwarsi Vinod Kumar said, “Everyone is a shooter in this family, they did not filed any compliant regarding the death of their son. We went to the house and found his body was lying in pool of blood. His father and siblings said that it was an accident. The body was not sent for post mortem.”
